Max Outcalt
About Max
Max has been storytelling since he was five. Chicago-based but Cleveland-born, he is a playwright who thrives in blending epic themes with intimate narratives. Max's work centers on moments of intense turmoil, often mixing contemporary ideas of "manliness" alongside historical and classical tales to develop stories that resonate across generations. As an actor, he thrives in productions that are urgent in their storytelling, with a special interest in New Work.
A graduate of Northwestern University (Class of ’26), Max has studied at Prague Film School and the University of Oxford's Hertford College. While at Northwestern, Max majored in Theatre and Political Science, earning a spot in Northwestern's competitive Playwriting Module and graduating with Honors and a thesis in Political Science. He also worked as Music Director for Northwestern's premier all-male a capella group, Asterik. In his free time, Max loves to play guitar, bake, research Irish politics, and devour every book.
